Spasski River: Travel through the Tlingit village of Hoonah and through the forests and muskegs of Chichagof Island on a narrated tour by a local guide. You will want to keep an eye out for bald eagles, woodpeckers, Sitka black-tailed deer, and the Alaska Coastal bear.
Bear Search: When you arrive at the river, your guide will lead you on “the trail of the bear,” a boardwalk that follows in the footsteps of the island’s largest inhabitant as well as other wildlife that have used this area for thousands of years to access the bounty of the river and surrounding valley.
Requirements & Restrictions: Guest must be able to walk 800 yards through wilderness terrain without any assistance. Minimum age – 8 years. Service animals are not allowed to participate in this tour.
Good to Know: Dress according to the weather and your comfort. Guests may not stay in the bus for the Spasski walking portion of this tour as the bus may need to return to the ship’s pier.
