City Drive: Learn why Napier was hailed the ‘Art Deco City’ on an hour-long orientation city tour. Your drive will discuss the city’s history and stories including the devastating 1931 earthquake as you follow the seashore along Marine Parade. Pass the sunken gardens, National Aquarium, Spirit of Napier, and Art Deco buildings. Continue through Napier’s suburbs for views of the city and Hawkes Bay. Travel through the Marewa District, noted for its many Deco homes and superb gardens.
Aquarium: Stop at the National Aquarium and explore New Zealand’s largest display of aquatic life and unique wildlife including sharks, stingrays, living coral, kiwi, tuatara, and a huge range of fish species.
What to Bring: Comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to weather conditions, hat, jacket, biodegradable sunscreen, bottled water, and local currency/credit cards.
