Khutzeymateen Valley: Travel by 72-foot catamaran, designed for wildlife viewing, on this full-day adventure that sails through stunning scenery with towering cliffs, dense forests, and a thriving estuary ecosystem. As you journey through Chatham Sound, your knowledgeable crew will regale you with stories about life in the surrounding villages and will help you spot Dall’s porpoise, Steller sea lions, playful seals, and a variety of seabirds. After cruising for just over two hours, you will reach an area uninhabited by humans, with hills lush with Sitka spruce and hemlocks. Khutzeymateen Valley is home to Canada’s only grizzly bear sanctuary. More than 50 grizzly bears live in these hills. Your Catamaran will glide gently and give you an excellent chance of sightings, so bring a camera and binoculars. On your two-hour return to Prince Rupert, refresh with a deli sandwich.
