The salt beds are full of tiny microbes that thrive in salty bodies of water and as the sun gets higher, you can see a film of salt developing on the water’s surface. The pigment in these microbes cause the beautiful pink tones of the water and gives flamingos that pink glow they're so famous for.

Discover Xcambo Mayan Ruins: Visit the most important commercial city for the Maya in the north part of the peninsula, Xcambo. This word translated into Spanish means celestial crocodile or place where exchanges are made. It is considered one of the largest areas on the peninsular coast and some of the largest buildings. See venerable archaeological & pilgrimage sites with the Temple of the Cross & the Temple of Sacrifices.

Dzemul Maya Village: Let the reality of Mexico excite you! You’ll visit the town of Dzemul; a modern-day Mayan village where traditional Mayan palapas sit next to Spanish influenced buildings. Follow your guide through town to the Catholic cathedral in the main square where you can rest in the gardens, watch the town pass, and take in your colorful surroundings.
