Use the following checklists to help make sure you are well prepared for a relaxing, fun-filled cruise!
6 - 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE:
Passport validity checked
For international cruises (to destinations such as the Pacific Islands, New Zealand, Hawaii, Singapore); all guests must have a passport that is valid for 6 months after the date of the cruise return.
For domestic cruises; Australian residents must provide Government issued photo I.D or Passport. Children must also have a Government issued ID or Passport. A current Medicare card can also be used for passengers under the age of 18. Please ensure that you bring this form of ID to check-in on the day of your cruise.
International guests on a domestic cruise must have a passport that is valid for 6 months after the date of the cruise return.
Visa applications made
Certain ports of call require visas, your travel agent will be able to tell you what you require. For more information Australian citizens can visit: www.passports.gov.au
Doctor's appointment made
See your doctor to discuss vaccinations you may need along with any other medical considerations. For more information visit: World Health Organisation (www.who.org) or Smart Traveller (www.smartraveller.gov.au)
Carnival notified of medical conditions/disabilities
Ensure you have informed us of any particular needs you may have due to a medical condition or disability by sending an email to specialneeds@carnival.com.
Carnival notified of special dietary requirements
To make your experience as cruisey as possible, inform us of any particular dietary requirements you have by sending an email to specialneeds@carnival.com before you board. Alternatively, have a chat to your maitre d on embarkation day, and they will be sure to look after you for the length of your cruise.
Search for shore excursions
Shore excursion information is available in the Shore Excursions section of our website www.carnival.com.au/shore-excursions. Browse all shore excursion options for the destinations you will be visiting, and view prices as early as 75 days prior to your cruise. As numbers are limited, we recommend you book at the Shore Excursions desk once you get onboard the ship.
Check-in online
You can check-in online at www.carnival.com.au/onlinecheckin. From here you will be able to update your personal details, select your check-in time and print boarding passes and luggage tags. This can all be done up to 6 months before you sail, once you have paid in full.
Book your flights
Ensure your flight arrives no later than four hours before your cruise departure time. If you are flying home on the day you leave the cruise, please ensure your flight departs no earlier than five hours after your cruise arrives in port.
Book your airport/port transfers
Carnival Cruise Line sell transfers from the airport to the Cruise terminal on embarkation day, and from the cruise terminal to the airport on debarkation morning.
- Sydney: Transfers cost $29.99 AUD each way.
- Melbourne: Transfers cost $36.00 AUD each way from Airport to pier & vice versa. $16.00 AUD from Southern Cross to Pier and vice versa.

2 MONTHS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE:
Medical supplies obtained
Remember to stock up on any medications or other kinds of medical supplies that you may need. Double check that you have sufficient quantities for the entire duration of your trip.
Purchase Travel Insurance

Bank notified
If you intend to use your credit/debit card overseas, remember to inform your bank which specific countries you will be visiting so they can be prepared, and can advise on any costs you may incur.
Legal Guardian
Adults who are not the parents or legal guardians of any minor child (aged 17 years or under) who are travelling with them will be required to present the child's valid passport (and applicable visas) - for International cruises and for Domestic cruises, the child's birth certificate or certified copy. NB On a domestic cruise, the child will not be permitted to board with just a medicare card as ID, if the travelling adult is not named on that medicare card.
They will also need to bring an original letter signed by one of the parents or legal guardians, authorising the minor to travel on that specific cruise. This letter must state the travelling adult's name, and that they are authorised to travel with this particular minor on this particular cruise and date. This letter must authorise them to supervise the child, sign applicable waivers and permit any medical treatment that must be administered to the child. If such evidence is not produced the minor will not be allowed to travel.

Travel documents ready to go
Ensure you have your passport and your boarding pass (printed from online check-in) ready to go.
Carnival tags attached to your luggage
Carnival Cruise luggage tags are included with your eTicket. Please ensure one tag is printed, filled in and attached to each piece of luggage prior to arriving at the terminal on the day of departure.
Emergency contacts informed
Provide friends and family with your travel dates as well as information on how to reach you at sea in case of a emergency.
In case of an emergency where someone needs to contact you on the ship, it is best for them to reach the call centre on 13 31 94. An emergency call form will be filled out and passed onto the Care team. As soon as the guest can be reach onboard, the call will be returned or the message delivered. The caller will need the ship's name and the name of the person they wish to contact.
Transport to the port
Ensure you have organised how to travel to the Overseas Passenger Terminal. If travelling from the airport, we recommend booking a Carnival transfer, you can find out more here. Although there is public transport in close proximity of Circular Quay, be prepared for the possibility of unforseen delays. Check-in closes one hour prior to your cruise's scheduled departure, and your chosen check-in time is displayed on your e-ticket, you would have selected this when you checked-in online.
Ensure your packed luggage meets restrictions
We recommend you take no more than two bags per person. Each bag can be no bigger than 140cm x 60cm x 40cm and cannot weigh more than 32kg. It is important to remember that airlines may have different luggage restrictions.
